Restylane Injections
As you grow older, deep lines and folds begin to appear along the contours of your face betraying your age and Restylane® products are cosmetic fillers that replace lost volume and restore a more youthful appearance.
Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a natural sugar found in the dermal layer of your skin. HA's primary function is to provide volume and because of its ability to bind with water up to one thousand times its own volume, HA makes an ideal dermal filler agent. Restylane® was the first cosmetic filler composed of non-animal-based HA and the crystal clear gel in Restylane® is called NASHA™ or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid which is biodegradable and fully biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
Dr. Trang Vo-Nguyen (Dr. V) is a respected plastic surgeon and medical director of the Virginia Institute located in Chantilly, Virginia. The Restylane® Procedure
A Restylane® treatment normally takes up to 30 minutes, although time varies depending upon the area or areas being treated. Most people feel completely comfortable resuming their normal routine after their Restylane® treatment. You may experience some temporary puffiness, redness, slight bruising, or tenderness at the site of injection but this subsides quickly.
The results of Restylane® will be seen immediately and research shows that for some patients, the effects of Restylane® can last up to one year. In addition to Restylane's "plumping" effect under the skin, it also stimulates cells (fibroblasts) to stretch as they did when they were younger and this causes the production of new collagen.
